Intensive Dance Studies
Our Intensive Studies program is designed to create the complete, well-rounded dancer.  Intensive Studies classes are required for competition dancers, but are also open to any student wanting to advance in dance.  The program consists of:
Ballet, Jazz, Lyrical, Tap, Turns and Turn Combos and Leaps and Jumps.

  Ballet
Ballet is the root of all dance forms so proper and safe ballet training is held in high regard at MDE!  Students are trained in the Vaganova method of ballet to develop proper technique and execution of movement in all styles. A typical class consists of barre work (at the barre or in the center), center exercises and movement across the floor.

   Pointe

Pointe classes will be working on basic strength and development of pointework at the barre and in the center.  Pointe students will also learn variations from ballets throughout history.

  Jazz & Lyrical Style Classes
Learn combinations and progressions across the floor to expand your style!

Jazz and lyrical students not only will be working their technical skills, but learning traditional and contemporary dance style through age appropriate combinations.

Leaps and Jumps & Turns and Turn Combinations
These classes are for the development of technical skills.  In leaps and jumps, students will strength train along with leap and jump combinations in order to increase power and height.  Students will also perfect the technique of the important transition steps.

In turns, students will work on core strength to improve balance and control, practice turns in several different positions and putting everything together in fun combinations.

  Tap
Tap technique is taught in various styles. Dancers learn traditional and contemporary combinations and tap terminology, applying rhythm, developing timing and learning to use their feet as musical instruments.

*We figure class placement not only on age, but also experience and ability level.  We DO NOT require all students to only dance with students in their own age group.
